Okay, mod note.

So, today, the Daily Prophet has announced that Malfoy Manor was raided and Narcissa Malfoy taken into custody by aurors for the torture and murder of a couple of wizards.

For Remus, the full moon is tomorrow, December 21st. Also, for us astronomy geeks, the lunar eclipse is tonight!

Christmas hols begin after class today, and we have the Yule Ball tomorrow. If we have an rp that needs to be placed tonight, and it takes us forever to write it, just choose which character posts and make a members only placeholder spot until we get it written. that way, we can make sure it shows on the community page correctly. :)

Okay, so!

I suck, harcore. I'm so sorry, guys. I really suck.

Let's talk about the Quidditch schedule, shall we? I had this big plan where I would have each game with a new commentator, because Hogwarts is looking for a new one anyway, but I failed.

Gryffindor vs Slytherin was on November 4th.

I screwed up, so , let's do this. Basically, in this game, Slytherin won. Draco caught the Snitch for once in his Quidditch career, completely by accident. Vincent accidentally hit a Bludger at Draco instead of Harry and Draco fell off his broom and landed on the snitch. I figure the score ended up being 40 to 170. If your characters have any posts they want to make, backdate them for Nov 4th or 5th and comment with the entry link here, so we have the chance to respond to them.

ALSO: Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff was today!! November 28th! Remember to post or comment tomorrow if you have something to say about the game! Ravenclaw won, 160 to 10. Yay, Ravenclaw!

Please have any story-formatted role plays beta'ed before they're posted to the SA community.

Thank you.

Raw code boxes are awesome, so the HTML code below is for everyone to use for their character sheets. It's an easy copy and then you paste the raw code into a new journal entry post. Follow the instructions that our esteemed mod outlined in the SA Tech Profile Page.

The raw code below is for [personal profile] lunesque. It's essentially the HTML code for how to make the box above. ♥

Small Note Lunesque: Eliminate the space between the forward slash and 'textarea'. The HTML got wonky and confused. And as I texted earlier, the text contained in quotes can be adjusted however you like.

Now that I've got the Brit-picking info up, I want to go over one more reminder of what I'll be expecting when we post.

-Journals-

Always first person POV from the character. It should be written exactly as a journal entry. No character actions are permitted in the entries or the comment interactions.

Example:

Incorrect:

*Draco shrugged*

And what, exactly, do you expect me to do?

Correct:

And what, exactly, do you expect me to do?

-Community-

The community is for role-play and communication outside of the journals. This will usually take the form of two different options.

1. Owls, Howlers, and other post

Owls and other post will be formatted like this. The entry should be titled with who is writing the letter, and the name of the recipient, i.e.

Owl from Draco Malfoy to Narcissa Malfoy

The original correspondence should be placed in a single entry in the community journal. All following correspondence will be completed in the comments.

2. Role-play

Now, role-play can take place in one of two ways. You can either start a scenario in a community entry, and then proceed with the actual role-play in the comments, i.e.

Ginny was sitting in the common room, ripping open the packaging of a Chocolate Frog.

(Then continuing, in a comment)

Harry stepped through the portrait hole, smiling once he noticed Ginny on the couch. "Hey, Ginny."

OR

Any players involved with a role-play can play it out, and then post the scenario in story form as one entry in the community, i.e.

It was Sunday evening and Evan Rosier was expecting guests. He hadn't baked anything and had also decided not to even offer them beverages when they came. He wanted to keep this meeting as brief as possible.

Severus Apparated to Rosier's home and knocked on the front door. Evan opened it after a moment and looked decidedly pleased that it was Severus, not Wormtail, to arrive first. "Severus!" He extended a hand, which Snape shook briefly, and let him in. "Doing well, I trust?"

"Well enough, I suppose," Severus acknowledged. "And you?"

It's simple, and far more clean than bracketing character actions.

Of course, if you have any questions, comment and let me know.

And one last reminder: There should be no out of character posts or comments while using one of the character journals.

Also, please remember that the characters are writing in physical journals. Characters will probably cart them around and talk about them, just like normal books.

Hi, everyone! Just some last minute helpful things before we begin tomorrow:

The biggest thing is something we all need to work on right now, and that would be our Brit-picking. [personal profile] dungeonmarm posted a great link way back in the original [livejournal.com profile] _sa_tech, and I thought I would go ahead and repost it here.

( Click here for useful stuffs. )

For our own reference, here's a list of character sheets we need:

For standardization purposes, I think the ages we should be listing in the character sheets should reflect the character's age on 01 September 1996, which is the first day of Harry Potter's sixth year at Hogwarts.

Students have to be eleven years old on September 1st in their first year at Hogwarts, so we should calculate our characters' ages and birthdates from that fact. Here's how it breaks down:

09/02/78 - 09/01/79 = Seventh Year = 17 y.o.
09/02/79 - 09/01/80 = Sixth Year = 16 y.o.
09/02/80 - 09/01/81 = Fifth Year = 15 y.o.
09/02/81 - 09/01/82 = Fourth Year = 14 y.o.

...and so on and so forth.

Doing a cursory glance through the sheets we've already posted, I think we all had it right (except Søren, who was TWO years off because I'm an idiot), but please make sure your characters' birthdays, ages, and school years match up properly.

And be sure to let me know if they don't, so I don't feel like the only idiot in the group. *__*
