Age/Birthday: 29 April 1980; 16 years old
Primary Role: 6th year Hufflepuff, Prefect
Biography: Ernie's family life has been a pleasantly uneventful one. His father Lewys builds precision timepieces, astrolabes, and sextants which he sells in a small shop in Colchester, over which the family lives in an apartment. Ernie's mother Catherine teaches young witches and wizards to read and write in a local day school.
Ernie also has an eight-year-old brother called Matthew. Altogether, the Macmillans are a rather typical middle-class magical family.
Personality: Unfortunately, most of the personality traits people notice first aren't very flattering. Ernie has a confident air about him that often gets interpreted as pomposity and egoism. He can be rather quick to jump to conclusions, as well, but is perfectly willing to admit when he's wrong.
Ernie also happens to be loyal, generous, hard-working, and kind--he's a Hufflepuff through and through, and is very proud and protective of his house.
Sexuality: Ernie is straight and very much likes to be in a relationship. He has every intention to marry a nice witch and have a few children. He's currently single.
Alignment and Blood-status: Ernie's family is pure-blood, as he very deliberately made known in his second year at Hogwarts, when it seemed that half-blood and Muggle-born students were in danger. It's true that Ernie is proud of his heritage, but he doesn't have a second thought about befriending half-blood and Muggle-born witches and wizards--he loves his heritage, but doesn't judge anyone based on their own.
He's is very much opposed to Voldemort and his Death Eaters, and was a member of Dumbledore's Army in his fifth year at Hogwarts. He has at times been suspicious (if not flat-out afraid) of Harry Potter, but now firmly believes that Harry will play an important part in Voldemort's defeat.
Physical Appearance: Ernie is just a bit short for his age and has a stout build. He has dark blond hair, which he wears in a shortish non-style, brown eyes, and fair skin that can go rather pink when he's emotional or concentrating. He has a big smile full of alarmingly perfect teeth, which can be either charming or disconcerting, depending on your viewpoint. He also features a slightly prominent chin.
Distinguishing Characteristics: The only thing that stands out even more than Ernie's smile and chin is his self-confidence. It's almost tangible.
Other Notes: Ernie's best friends are Justin Finch-Fletchley, Susan Bones, and Hannah Abbott, all sixth-year Hufflepuffs like him.
